Areas of Expertise

I offer support to adults, young people and children aged 8 and above who may be experiencing:

  • Anxiety, stress, or feeling overwhelmed

  • Low mood or depression

  • The impact of trauma, including domestic or childhood abuse

  • Emotional difficulties or challenges with self-esteem

  • Life transitions or feeling “stuck”

  • Relationship or family difficulties

  • Mental health challenges affecting young people

  • Neurodiversity, including those who may feel misunderstood or struggle in traditional settings

I understand that everyone’s experience is unique, and you don’t need to have a specific label or diagnosis to seek support.

My background spans over 30 years working within the criminal justice system, where I have supported survivors of domestic and child abuse. This experience gave me a deep understanding of trauma, and the strength and resilience people carry, even in the most difficult circumstances.

Alongside this, I have worked extensively with young people experiencing a range of mental health challenges. In my role within an educational setting, I have also supported individuals with neurodiversity, which has shaped my flexible, patient, and inclusive approach.

I trained as an integrative counsellor, gaining Advanced Diplomas in Integrative Counselling and in Counselling Children and Young People. I have also trained in Sand Tray Therapy, hold a certificate in teaching mindfulness, and work in a trauma-informed way.

I believe that feeling heard and understood is at the heart of positive change. I offer a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space where you can talk openly and begin to make sense of your experiences. I work with both adults and children aged 8+, always tailoring my approach to suit your individual needs.

As an integrative counsellor, I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches to suit your individual needs. This means our work together is tailored specifically to you, rather than following a one-size-fits-all model.

I work in a way that is:

  • Compassionate and non-judgmental – you will be met with understanding and respect

  • Trauma-informed – recognising how past experiences can shape present feelings and behaviours

  • Collaborative – we work together at your pace, focusing on what feels most important to you

  • Flexible and inclusive – adapting to different needs, including neurodiversity

  • Grounded and practical – incorporating techniques such as mindfulness where helpful

My aim is to provide a safe and supportive space where you feel heard, understood, and able to explore your experiences openly.

Starting counselling can feel like a big step, and it’s natural to feel unsure at first. In our sessions, you will have the time and space to talk openly about what’s on your mind, without pressure or judgment.

We will move at a pace that feels right for you, building trust and understanding along the way. My role is to support you in making sense of your experiences, developing coping strategies, and to find a way forward that feels manageable and meaningful.

I am a registered member of the BACP and hold an enhanced DBS Certificate.
